My family recently had the opportunity to celebrate with Mark and Brylie as they got married! We have known Brylie for quite some time and have gotten to know Mark these last few months as we did premarital counseling together. It has been such a joy to anticipate and prepare for this day with them!
Our family supplied the minister, photographer, and flower girls, but by far the most important job belonged to Elijah who kept the toddler occupied during the ceremony so that he wasn’t constantly chasing me around yelling, “Mommy!!!!!!!”
We have been looking forward to this day for about nine months, and if you know anything about little girls who are extremely excited about being flower girls, you understand just how long those nine months have felt. I think it felt longer to us than it did to Mark and Brylie! 😆 “How much longer until Miss Brylie’s wedding??” was the constant refrain heard in our house. I told Brylie she really should’ve waited about 8 ½ months longer to ask them.
I recruited my friend Dusty once again to help me photograph the wedding, and he was such a big help. The ceremony was beautiful (and not just because the minister did an outstanding job 😜). It took place at Magnolia Grace Ranch and was set amongst several trees, making for a private, shady area with sunlight dappling through the leaves. Mark and Brylie are a truly special couple, and their love for one another, their love for Christ, and their joy of getting married were clearly evident. They incorporated small meaningful details into the day also, such as a pearl necklace Brylie’s mom had worn when she got married and a dragonfly ring and ladybug trinket sewn into her dress to remember her late aunt and her late Papa.
The reception that followed inside was a joyful event as well as we got to celebrate with the newly wedded couple! The mother/son and father/daughter dances (with a surprise mother/daughter dance thrown in too!) were touching reminders of how much their families mean to them. Family and friends spoke words of love and encouragement over them and toasted to their happiness. Lots of laughter followed with a game where Mark and Brylie had to choose which one of them was best described by several different statements, as well as with the bouquet toss (although it had better be a while before the lucky recipient of the bouquet actually gets married!)
Finally, we sent them off through the sparklers to start their new life together! We are praying many blessings over the happy couple!!
